Seafood Ticket Fundraiser!

The Home and School Association, with the generosity of several of our families and local businesses, has decided to hold the seafood ticket campaign once again.  This will be the last fundraising effort for this school year.  The tickets indicate the people who made the donations:  Kim Bourgaize, Travis Henry, Ansel Syvret, Rocky Touzel, the Band Council of Gespeg, Poisonnerie Gaspez’y, and as an addition we have received a donation from Poissonerie Prevel  (Ivan Annett) which must be mentioned as the tickets had already been printed prior to the donation.

We are sending home 5 books of tickets per family.  We are selling these tickets by the book, for $2.00 a book.  Please help/encourage your child to sell these until the deadline on Wednesday, May 30th when all tickets, money and unsold books must be returned to the school.  The draw will be taking place at school on Tuesday, June 5th.

All money raised goes into the Home and School Association for the Student Activities Fund.

If you would like extra tickets please send in a note with your child or call the school.

Please note that all unsold tickets must be returned to the school.

Thank you,

Health Week – “Build your Own Healthy Sandwich Lunch”

This week is health week and we have been providing students with the chance to participate in several lunch-time activities, given a special smoothie-snack, and Thursday we will finish the week with  “Build your Own Healthy Sandwich Lunch”.  On Tuesday the students were given the selection sheet that is on the back of this page to complete during their class time.  They will actually help to prepare their choice on Thursday, March 22nd.  The students should bring in all snack items, juice, or extras that they normally bring to school but their main meal will be the sandwich that they make with the assistance of the school staff.

Please remember that students from kindergarten to grade 3 or students who have not signed up for the ESSB Mini-Basketball Tournament do not have school on Friday, March 23rd.  The buses will run 1/2 hour later in the morning on Friday and we will dismiss at approximately 2 pm in the afternoon.

The day care will be open for students who are registered following a regular schedule.

Red/Pink Hair Streak

Your child will arrive home today with a reddish/pink streak as a symbol of their commitment to end bullying/intimidation.  This is a campaign that has been in the news in Gaspe for the past week.  Hairdressers are showing their support by giving the actual hair dye, we used spray-on color which is washable.  This symbolic action fits very well with our week theme of “Stomping Out Name Calling”.

Reminder:  If your child has not brought in an old shoe please send one in tomorrow or a note to the teacher.

**Registration Forms**

Please return your child’s registration form as soon as possible.  Also, pass the word that prekindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year will take place every day next week.  Families with 4 year olds can come to the school anytime between 8:30 and 2:30 pm

Reminder:  1/2 PED Day

On January 27th students will be dismissed early, buses will leave the school at 11:30 am.  The day care will be open from 11:30-5:40 pm as per the usual schedule.

Stomp Out Name Calling

Our theme for this week’s campaign will be called “Stomp Out Name-Calling”.  Besides the poem writing, and lessons focused on being kind and respectful toward one another, our school-wide activity will be an art project related to our theme.  Because we will be “Stomping out Name-Calling” each student is being asked to bring in one old shoe (sandal, boot, rubber boot, any type of footwear will do).  This must be a shoe that you do not need returned.  It can be your child’s shoe or even one that belongs to a parent, grandparent, or sibling.  Please send in the shoe tomorrow, if you do not have a shoe to give to this art project please send in a note to your child’s teacher and we will find one for your son/daughter.

You will have the chance to see our creative art expressions during student-led conferences on February 28th or sooner if you visit the school.
